Wednesday @ Washburn with Dr. Matthew Brown
November 3, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Dr. Matthew Brown, a UW alum and member of the African Cultural Studies department at UW-Madison, joins the Honors Student Organization for a discussion about Critical Race Theory at November’s Wednesday @ Washburn. This event will be the first Wednesday @ Washburn hosted at Washburn Observatory in nearly two years! Please consider joining HSO and Dr. Brown for a presentation and discussion, paired with a meal (from Ian’s Pizza) provided by the Honors Student Organization in the Washburn library!
Date: Wednesday, November 3
Time: 6:00-7:00 PM CST
Location: Washburn Observatory Library
Description: In the current public debate, Critical Race Theory is often described as a graduate-level framework for understanding the role that racism plays in the American legal system, both historically and today. This session will explore the idea that theorizing race critically is central to any rigorous understanding of world history, which is why it should have a place in all forms of education, in the U.S. or elsewhere.
We are FULL for this event. Thank you for your interest!
