Fall 2025 First-Year Dinner: A Full House of Honors Energy

The L&S Honors Program’s Fall 2025 First-Year Dinner brought together the newest members of the Honors community for an evening of connection, celebration, and inspiration. Held on September 30, 2025, the event filled the room—every seat taken—as first-year students gathered to meet one another, Honors staff, and some of the most outstanding UW faculty and staff.

The dinner began with students sharing a meal alongside faculty and peers, creating a welcoming atmosphere that encouraged conversation and new connections. After dinner, students moved freely between conversations with multiple faculty members, exploring topics that ranged from professors’ academic journeys and personal backgrounds to students’ own interests, experiences, and aspirations. Discussions ranged from undergraduate research opportunities to broader reflections on life at UW–Madison, fostering a lively exchange that highlighted the diversity of perspectives within the Honors community. These conversations showcased the breadth of curiosity among students and the faculty’s willingness to share their stories and guidance.

A highlight of the evening was the recognition of outstanding faculty and mentors, underscoring the program’s commitment to celebrating those who make a lasting impact on students’ academic journeys.

By packing the room with energy and enthusiasm, the First-Year Dinner set the tone for the year ahead. It was more than just a meal—it was the beginning of a shared journey, one defined by curiosity, collaboration, and the spirit of Honors.

The L&S Honors Program would like to recognize the continued support of the many UW faculty and staff who choose to participate in this special event. Our Program thrives because you care!
