I spent two months and probably over 100 hours trying to figure out two math/coding problems that came up while working on my senior thesis in Economics. I wasn’t confident that I could solve them, and I really could have stopped at any time because I had enough material to write my thesis, but I kept working. When I finally figured them out I was smiling the whole day. I learned more from trying to figure out all the problems and issues I ran into working on my thesis than from any class I took at UW. I guess I’ve learned that I have the patience to smash my head against a wall for two months until I finally break through it. And also that it’s actually worth it when you finally breakthrough.
