Elizabeth Stein

The fall of my junior year primarily consisted of long days in the hospital, overwhelmed by feelings of fatigue and nausea. My outgoing and curious self struggled in adapting to this new and unknown lifestyle. A professor of mine picked up on this and extended herself, lending concern and compassion. She unconditionally offered kindness and comfort in a time of fear and isolation. Two months later I was diagnosed with cancer and immediately returned home. With our growth of distance came the growth of our connection. We grew to understand one another, often reflecting on the value of learning and the virtue of sharing. Our relationship only continues to grow as her zest for life and dedication to others steadily leads and passionately inspires my navigation of the world ahead.
