Make A Gift

Help us support some of the brightest, most curious, enthusiastic and high-achieving students in the College of Letters & Science as they immerse themselves in the ideals of the liberal arts: intellectual curiosity and breadth of knowledge, engaged citizenship, and a belief in leadership and service, all of it to make the world a better place. Donor gifts allow the Honors Program to award more than 70 grants to students every year and to host special events for them. Your support will help Honors students reach their goals, expand their opportunities, and realize their dreams of success.

Small gifts add up and can help us do big things, while endowments provide essential permanent support and enable long-term planning.

The L&S Honors Program General Fund

The L&S Honors General Fund allows us to support students based on both merit and need, to organize Honors events for students, and to design new initiatives. Your gift provides the margin of excellence in a great public research university.

This fund has proved to be of critical significance in enabling the program to meet unexpected needs and to start pilot versions of initiatives before more permanent funding is available.

The Honors Program Director's Fund

This fund is intended to provide on-going, long-term support for the Honors Program in the College of Letters and Science, providing stability and flexibility. The Honors Program Director determines where to direct funds for greatest impact.

The Honors Program Director’s Endowment Fund was initiated by two distinguished faculty members and Honors Directors and established through the generosity of: Charles T. Snowdon (UW-Madison Professor of Psychology emeritus, Honors Program Director 2007-2012) and B. Ann Lindsey, and Cyrena N. Pondrum (UW-Madison Professor of English emerita, Honors Program Director 2001-2005) and Lee G. Pondrom (UW-Madison Professor of Physics emeritus).

“As an Honors student, I felt the freedom of choice, the excitement of opportunity, and the comfort of support all at once. That is a truly invaluable combination, and I am so proud to graduate with Comprehensive Honors from this extraordinary program.”

Julia Miller, December 2020 L&S Graduate with Comprehensive Honors
